One great new product that we discovered at the recent CCWE show is a new wireless credit card system being developed by Coinco that is non-proprietary and allows the operator to select any of the major processors that he/she may already have on the wash site. This new credit card reader is wireless and will operate with pulse based systems in the bays or vacuums and with the MDB system used in our ShurVend merchandisers. We are told that the operator can go online to a website and look at the credit card numbers and do inventory control in real time. This makes this credit card reader much more flexible than the e-Port system we have been using in our merchandisers for many years.
We are installing one in a machine we sold at the show so we will be learning how it works and be able to offer it for use in our merchandisers. It will cost a little more up-front than the Edge, but the rest of the costs are the same as the e-Port. We have been looking for something like this for a long time and now it seems to be near at hand allowing car washes to go to cashless systems on all the equipment. With less and less cash being used on a wash site, vandalism and theft should almost disappear from the wash.
