As we have posted from time and time, we learn from our customers experiences in the field and at the CCWE show. If there is a potential “weak” spot in a design some one will mention it in our conversations with them. It is usually nothing major, but these little tweaks or ideas make the design more user-friendly and/or more secure.
Two customers were looking at our new ShurVend VendPro-18 merchandiser at the CCWE show with particular attention at the door closure on the lock side of the machine. When the locks are screwed tight there is virtually no space between the door and the corner post of the cabinet. They looked at that closure and suggested that the door wrap around the corner of the cabinet of the merchandiser because vandals in their area would try to use a screw driver or pry bar to open the door where they come together. We have used this door design on our larger security structures for a number of years and never had any reports of attempts to pry open the door.
We did study this suggestion very closely and had to admit that they had a point about the door closure which could affect the security of the machine. Our building procedure would change a little, but it would enhance the security of the door closure. So we have adopted this change for the VendPro-18 merchandiser and for the larger security structures used with our full sized merchandiser packages. If it discourages would-be vandals from even attempting to use a pry bar, it would be well worth doing it.
To our customers and forum members: We encourage you to keep bringing us ideas and suggestions about improving our products. Conditions keep changing constantly, so we need to address these new conditions and any concerns of our customers.
