"New To Me" Detailing Scam

I get an email:

" I have 10 Escalade cars. I need them detailed. The shipper cannot accept credit cards so I need you to do me a favor and run the cards, etc."

Beware of this scam!!!

This has been going around a few years now, but the last few weeks they have been hammering detail shops with emails. Next you'll get the call from a guy who claims to be hearing impaired. He'll have the same story as the email just wasting your time on the phone.

The hearing impaired relay company and credit card scam is fairly big around here lately.

FYI, it is technically illegal to hang up on the hearing impaired call. at first i thought it was a possible ADA scam, and they were going to try and sue for hanging up. We have had this call at least 25 times in three months. if you tell them you do not accept CC over the phone they hang up.

I don't think it can be illlegal if the intent of the call is to perpetrate fraud.

Not sure what the law books will say, but just a hunch.
