It is our belief at ShurVend that the 13 items that compromise the “basic product mix” for vending machines account for a high percentage of the total vending dollars spent at a wash site even though there are 100’s offered to the car wash industry. The ShurVend Starter Kit we offer with a new vendor includes this “basic product mix” as well as additional vending items that sell at most washes. The Starter Kit allows the operator to find out what sells at the particular site before ordering cases of product.
The recent design and building of the 10-selection vendor for the C-Store company is, I think, recognition by C-Store management that the10 selections we chose for them account for a high percentage of total vending sales. This C-Store company has 100+ wash sites and none of them (that I visited) had any vending products available at the vacuum or IBA. When we installed a 10-selection vendor at one of their sites in Northern California, the manager of all 100+ wash sites was there, so we had a chance to talk to him. He liked the vendor we installed, but thought maybe 10-selections was not enough items. We showed a similar 10-selection vendor called “White Lightnin’ at the Northeast Show in Atlantic City.
We are already building an 18-selection vendor that was designed and built for in-the-wall installations, so we used that knowledge to design and build an 18-selection stand alone vendor for the car wash environment. The choice of 18-selections allows an operator to have 1 column of each item in the “basic product mix” and then double up on the items that sell the fastest; Armorall Protectant Packs, white paper towels, Armorall Protectant Pumps, or ???? We stripped the design to its basics, but still have a high security vendor. We wanted to offer operators a machine that would give them the best vending sales revenues for the least amount of investment. Those operators that want to offer more selections than the “basic product mix” can, and do, buy up to the larger vendors so they can merchandise what ever selections they choose to offer.
