The advent of LED lighting systems over the past few years has been of keen interest to us at ShurVend. We have studied different systems for 2 years or so and never really found one that was simple, priced reasonably, and easy to install or retrofit into existing vendors. We like LED lights in the vendor to brighten (versus fluorescents)the product presentation to the customer, overcome some sunlight problems, light parts of the window which aren't lighted now, and use less power which saves money. The option that ShurVend had up to now was using the "company" lights for a vendor in which the initial cost was $300 and the installation was not very easy. They also left a dark spot underneath the T-Handle door closure where there was no light on that side. We tried LED rope lights, under-counter fixtures, and other lights, but noting fit the dimensions for the window very well.

We finally found some LED lights that we could cut at 2-inch intervals, bend 90 degrees at the top of the window, and had a simple power supply that could be plugged into the 120 vac system of the vendor. These lights are spaced about every inch so there are over 100 LEDs lighting the inverted "U" installed around the window, are in the 6000-7000K cool white temperature range, and use about 24 watts of power. These lights are a very bright almost harsh white light that is difficult to look at directly. Installed around the window they brighten up the inside of the vendor significantly. We are testing them right now in all our machines and these will become the standard on all new vendors.

Those of you with the older machines already in place, do not despair. We will have a retrofit kit available to replace all the old fluorescents in your vendor including directions, pictures, and all the parts necessary to do the job. This retrofit kit will cost about $79.95 or less for each machine. Look for the announcement of availability on the Forum in the ShurVend User's Group.
