I have a gantry type automatic carwash with onboard dryers. I am thinking of removing the dryers from the machine and moving them outside the bay. I don't think the onboard dryers are a good idea. It seems you get triple foam and soap residue being blown off the machine and onto the vehicle when the car is drying and what ever else is laying on the floor as the machine moves across the vehicle. Does anyone else experience these issues with onboard dryers? Is there any drawbacks to moving the dryers outside the bay?

I recently installed an IBA that had on-board dryers and we moved them to a free standing arch. Takes a lot of weight off the wheels and does a better job of drying . You might want to add a countdown timer with them.

On-board driers work best when they follow the contour of the vehicle as does Istobal. This becomes more important if you intend to use better quality to support higher price points.

I usually begin a project like this by identifying design objectives.

For example, are you looking to offer more convenience, better image or greater value or all of the above?

Offing the on-board dryer for a standing arch or overhead unit mounted to outside wall may improve process speed slightly and reduce your fallout problem.

Excess foam is often remedied by using chemical that breaks faster and/or calibrating the rinse nozzles.
