we are currently using publicdata.com for our background searches / criminal searches. we run licenses plates at our car wash and SS numbers, names, DOB, etc. for our rental property and convenience store. looking for opinions on what else might be out there that would be a little more in depth and up to date. also, would be nice to be able to search for someone through thier telephone / cell phone number. appreciate any insights.

I dont really care for PD either, about 70 percent of plates i run can not be found, so not really worth it. I'm also looking for something better.

Why is it that when you run someone's tag and call them because they did something wrong, the first words out of their mouth are: How did you get my private information?

Just once I'd like to hear an apology first.

I have decided that in the future my response is going to be: Lets first talk about what you did that you shouldn't have at my car wash, then if you still want to discuss the fact that you leave your right to privacy at my property line, we can have that discussion next.

I agree Red!! As far as a background check, I'd require them to provide you with their FICO score/credit report. A lot of people are using that to determine your fate, no reason that you can't.

Another good way to get info from tags is real simple:

"How about a free wash for you today, officer? And by the way I have this little problem....."

In WA it is illegal for the cop to help you, and I've had them decline to help without you filling a report first.

I don't know if it's illegal here, but they won't give out anyone's info. Even while I was filing a criminal report and the dispatcher was relaying info to the officer I was talking to, he muted his radio so I couldn't hear.
