We got back into California late Friday evening even though we flew American Airlines. We did not have any delays out of Orlando mainly because our airplane model was not one of those that the FAA said had problems. Others had delays of hours, if not days, which we were told about. Now for the serious stuff.

ShurVend had a terriffic show in terms of sales even though the attendee traffic was not what we would like to see. But as has been posted other places, the operators who did come were ready to buy. We were surprised by that, but very glad to see it. We had a good contingent of operators from Australia who were ready to do business which we also appreciate. So we will be busy for awhile when we get to work on Monday.

One of the new items that turned up at the show was the new Armorall sponge pack that is much shorter with the sponge folded in half so it is thicker. We tested it in our vendors at the show and it will still vend nicely in the 18-count helix which we have been using for the older, taller package. We understand Armorall changed the pack because of the "bridging" problems that some glass-front vendors have been experiencing. Now, if we could get them to switch to the oval bottles for their pumps, everything would be peachy!

The number of credit card systems continues to increase with some new companies entering the battle. These new card systems are compatible with many processing companies so we are no longer tied to a propietary processor. That is good for everybody. And they are MDB compatible too.

The Fawn vendor has reappeared in a refrigerated version that is hardened up to survive in the car wash business. I looked it over and the one thing that has a big "target" painted on it is the bill validator. A good whack with a hammer and that validator is gone!! Been there, done that!!

ICA had a task force that asked the exhibitors for suggestions and ideas that need to be addressed at furure Expos. I told them they need to get rid of the high cost to visit the Expo floor and just have a $25 charge (for all 3 days) to keep the homeless people out. Exhibitors need the traffic to at least have a chance to sell their products and services. So we'll see what happens. This has all been discussed on the forum previously, so I think the forum discussions are getting some attention.

Our thanks to all who visited our booth to buy, to have problems solved, or just say "hi".

It was nice meeting you at the forum party. I liked your response when I asked what you had for sale for $3,000 and you said "nothing". Doesn't seem as funny typing it, but I laughed pretty hard at the time! But maybe that was because of the other Sam, 'Sam Adams'.

Wax, I enjoyed meeting you also at the forum "dinner". These dinners are one of the few places where we can meet the other "forum crawlers".

As for the $3K sales point I don't have anything new at that price, but I do have some older vendors that were freight damaged and got stuck back in the corner of my warehouse. They have all been repaired and refurbished with the latest software systems so they operate just like a brand new one. I have a vendor that is 10 years old and it still works every day. Vendors are not like cars or furniture where they change the designs every year and they are dated quickly. If you put my 10 year old vendor alongside the 2008 vendors, you would have a hard time telling which was which. The success of a vending system is in the electronics system and not the physical looks. If I wanted to put a credit card reader in my 10 year old vendor, I could do it without any problem. The software makes this possible.

If your email is in your personal profile, I will email you with some pix and numbers to use to evaluate what I am saying about older vendors. We guarantee our product no matter what the serial number says.
