We have had 2-3 instances over the years where ShurVend Vendors are installed on the wash site close to a self-serve bay or IBA. That may be the best place to locate the vendor, but it is vulnerable to the overspray from customers using the bay and depositing cleaning chemicals on the vendor/security structure. These are very caustic chemicals and cause rusting or bubbling of the powder coating on the security structure. It is particularly hard on the door piano hinge causing it to rust and become hard to open. We suggest that you watch for this problem and use WD-40 or other anti-rust compound to keep the hinge from seizing up and becoming difficult to open. If the powder coating begins to flake off or bubble up, we suggest that you keep it looking nice by scraping, wire brushing, and repainting the bad spots. We have access to spray cans of paint that match the colors of the security cages and can have a spray can sent directly to you to fix these spots. The spray cans will cost about $25-$30 including the UPS freight charges.

We noticed this problem in the field when we have visited some of our customers and advised them how to treat this so their vendor lasts a long time. Since it can be problem that we will have to deal with at some time, we have changed the piano hinge from the cheaper ordinary steel to a stainless steel hinge on all of our present vendor models. This will eliminate the rusting of the hinge, but it will not keep the powder coating from bubbling up over time from the caustic chemicals used in the bay. Give us a call if you need some matching paint for the security cage.
