I have PDQ g5 units and they have stainless steel check valves (3/8"m o-ring x 3/8" m-jic) that are located on the input side of the soap heaters. in some g5 models they are on a small manifold block just before the heaters. I have noticed lately that I have been replacing these things a little too often in the last year or so. especially being stainless. they aren't cheap from PDQ either, around $60 each. I had a problem the other day, I had previously used one of these things on my main water manifold in my pumpstation because of a separate problem PDQ has with their chem solenoid valves, all of a sudden my pressure for soap 1 skyrocketed causing water to pour out of the unloader onto the floor.
as it turns out, the culprit was one of the two tiny little loop portions of the "C" clip that is used to hold the internal components of the check valve inside of the body that had corroded and broken off and got wedged into the nozzle for the injector. those are the loops you insert the tool into to remove the clip if needed. that caused the pressure to rise. no big deal, I fixed the problem and everything was good. but I realized that every time I have changed one of these things the C clip is missing. and the internal components like the spring and seal are still floating around there, but once the c clip goes the check valve is worthless.
I realized that the c clip itself was not stainless steel. when I removed one it stuck to a magnet. these are supposed to be the checks used on the corrosive soaps, and the most important part is junk and quickly corroding away. I cant find another source for these besides PDQ so I'm stuck buying from them for now, but I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem?? what is the point of a stainless check valve that is not completely stainless.
