Pos 4000

Using a POS 4000 system at our local C-store. The link from our wash to the POS is fine but from the POS to the C-store POS register system is not connecting. Is there a easy way to troubleshoot this issue without sending this in to Unitec? I have had to send it in before because of lighting and replacing of com chips. Does anyone else service these? Can I buy the chips myself and replace them?
