Presoak motor

Fuse burn out on the presoak. Replace fuse start it up and blown again. I take it the motor (marathon) or the procon pump burnt. How hard is it to replace motor? do i have to release pressure of the procon pump?

Presoak on the self-serve? The motor is very easy to replace. I doubt it's the pump - if it was seized, the motor's thermal protection should trip before the fuse blows, unless the fuse is too small.

today I had no presoak come out of the wizard. Procon pump did not turn and motor was hot. It was the pump. I disconnected the pump from motor and turn on the presoak, if motor turns, it is the procon pump.

Sorry mine was on the self serve. Im pretty much sure it is same concept.

1.the pump just "snap" off correct?

2.Do we need to disconnect the 2 hoses that connect to pump in order to remove the pump from the motor?

3. if i remove the hoses from the pump, do i need to clamp the hose so the air and the chemical wont bleed out?

You only need to remove the clamp that holds the pump to the motor to remove the motor. You can leave all the hoses on the pump when you take it off the motor.

i changed out new motor. ran test just motor only still blew the fuse with new motor. what else am i missing?

make sure all the jump wires in back of motor is set up correct. Otherwise it can turn wrong direction and take wrong voltage.

I am with the camp who suggests isolating where the specific increased amperage is occurring with a very affordable clamp-on ammeter. Now that you have 2 motors it could help to put a motor on a bench to see if there is abnormal amp draw outside of the control &/or the switching relay involved.

Just a thought ... we left our motor-pump presoak set up & tee'd with a toggle switch so we & started & continued to use a Flojet for the presoak over 12 years ago. No regrets & have not really needed to use the toggle. It sounds like your application is not self service like ours but on your wizard? so the Flojet info might not help you.

Perhaps it could be a loose wire rubbing against the housing from the years of vibration causing a short in your power feed. You're going to have to troubleshoot it.

Ideas:
Remove the procon pump and turn on the motor to see if it runs w/o blowing the fuse.
With procon off the motor, try turning it to see if it seized up.
Check the wires from your motor starter to the motor looking for cracks/openings.
Is there a capacitor on the motor? Maybe a wire inside that housing is shorting out.

Lots of things to look at.

this is gona sound really dumb. The pump seized which in turn burn the motor and blew the fuse. It might not happen that order but in all both motor and pump went out. So i took the fuse to Radio shack, cause i couldnt make out the numbers. I gave it a salesperson which in turn gave the pack of fuses. The pack of fuse she gave me was 5amp 125v fuse. Can someone verify that is correct? Cause when i ran out of that 5amp fuse i put a 10amp fuse and it work fine. I can only conclude that the original fuse must be 15 amp 125v fuse... it is running so far with new motor and pump and 15 amp fuse So please verify for me that it is a 15 amp , 125v fuse...ty!

Considering the last time I went to Radio Shack and asked to borrow a voltmeter and the employee asked "What's a voltmeter for?" I'd say she gave you the wrong fuses.

Hard to tell - what does the plate on the motor state?

The usual 1/3 HP is 5.6 amps, 1/2 HP is 7.2.

The fuse that comes with the unit is a 10amp

The spec plate on the motor will tell you what the amp draw is at the respective voltage it can be wired for.
