Hello all. New to this forum.

I have purchased an old Super Wash 3-1 a short time ago.

The automatic I've been told has equipment that was probably made by Pro Equipment circa 1987.

The full oval track. The I-beam track has expanded metal strips that have been screwed in from the top.

The previous owner had the rail heater disconnected and these metal strips were in some spots drilled through the rail into the copper pipe!

Could this have been a "fix" inlieu of the original heat setup?

I'm fixing the rail heat and want to know if I can get rid of these metal strips as some are missing and watching the trolley going around as it climbs over screws and missing strips is just ridiculous. :)

Our oval track had expanded metal on top of the track. It had been welded on when new. It came off with wear over the years. We used an air chisel and removed all of it. As long as the track heat is working (in freezing temps) and the red roller skate wheels on the sides are not locked up, you shouldn't have any trouble with the main drive wheels on the top working just fine. I have added weight on the trolley to hold in down better in the corners.

Thanks for the info!

I can see that originally welded would be ok. I'm going to take them off and see.

If you don't mind telling me, how did you add weight to the trolley?

There are a couple of bolts that hold the spray arm to the trolley. I had steel bars (about 5 lbs ea.)drilled to sit over the bolt holes. Used longer bolts and attached them there.
