Problem with Versapoint NIU on Specialty Impulse wash

Hey guys - I have a Specialty Impulse wash. These washes use 3 GE Versapoint Ethernet NIU's -- one in the gantry, one on the pump stand, and a main one in the control center. The one in the pump stand will communicate with the others fine for about 3 to 4 minutes, then all of a sudden lose communication. The ethernet switch they go thru is new and working fine. I don't know much about how these things work -- whether this could be a hardware or maybe a software issue? I've got a call into GE's tech support, but no word yet. With the passing of Mike V., there aren't a lot of people out there left that have much knowledge of these washes .. does anyone know of anyone who could be contacted?

I appreciate the help...

Hey bigjws! Sorry to hear that you are having difficulties. I don't know much about your machine but I can point you in the right direction. Just off the top of my head your ethernet cables may be damaged/worn. They sell testers at lowes and home depot to check to see if your cables are good or not.

This tester has saved me a ton of money and especially my time.

For technical support I would contact Jeff at Tri Valley Equipment Sales (740) 695-5895. Jeff use to work for Specialty and is the master tech at Tri Valley. I hope this helps!

Thanks Wiki - I had replaced the ethernet cable (and the ethernet switch) but to no avail...I just got off the phone with Jeff (you were one of 4 people who recommended him -- very nice and knowledgable guy!) and it seems to be the damn Versapoint NIU is bad. Luckily, he has them and knows how to program them, so we'll see how it works out once it gets to me. Thanks for the response, and I'll try to update the thread as I go...

bigjws, Good to hear you were able to get a hold of him. He's a great guy and I believe he was an engineer for specialty too.

Got the Niu from TriValley and put it in...about 90 washes thru and it's working great (knock on wood)! Thanks guys..
