Property Tax Vote Today

Whale of a Wash

5 Washes 36Bays 2Vectors
Today our state of ND votes to eliminate property
taxes. It will probably fail as they have scared everyone
into the doomsday effect. No police or fire funding
no city services. Our state has a $1B surplus, and is not
able to spend much of the money new oil is generating.
But the state and big money interests has the masses
scared. It will most likely fail, as the masses don't want
the change we need in property taxes.

Because they don't have what I like to call "skin in the game"...they have no idea how great this could be for small to medium sized businesses...I wish they would propose this in Michigan...

Whale & Bubbles,

Maybe it is just me, but personally I think that property taxes are more regressive than service taxes. Property taxes do hinge on the honesty & fairness of assessors though ... which requires a bit more faith.

Tons of people voted today (high turnout) over at our Senior Center which has their large parking lot directly kitty corner from us with our signs in full view as they walk in & out. It was funny how some of the worst attorneys in town & a former governor were so adamant against Measure 3 that could help stop the government from eventually forcing me to vend off the shelf contraceptives in our MegaVendor ... oh wait ... that had something to do with forcing people to give them away for free ... help me out ... am I getting confused?

#3 was religous freedom, but was a waste of ink.
80% of the scared voted to keep our property taxes.
But they promise reform, as i was wrong- ND is looking
at $5Billion in excess revenue. Our Williston ND car
dealers, are now #1 in sales of Escalades, and Corvettes
in the nation according to them. We are over 400mi,
away from the boom but do see the states excess
revenue as an eventual boost to us. In the end
we will see some tax relief, as the state won't
even be able to burn enough cash for heat to get
rid of it all.
