My weep system went down and the lines froze overnight, now the pump is pulsating bad, any idea? No major leaks.
Hope the answer is a Weep Mizer?aca carwash, What kind of weep system are you using?
Okay your right.... I would really just run out of the equipment room screaming!Almost???? (extra question marks added only to meet minimum character requirements)
aca - if this is what happened, a thermal relief valve could help this situation. It dumps the pump water onto the floor when the pump gets hot. It helps prevent the overheating. It sounds like while the bay was frozen someone came in and used the high pressure system left it On. The water flowing though the pump is what cools the pump. If you don’t have any water flowing though the pump it will over heat causing the seals and if run long enough the valves to be damaged. You need to rebuild the pump head. Or like Diamond said it's still frozen.
Don't feel like you're alone. I do stupid crap like this all the time. Just a couple of weeks ago the same situation happened. I was trying to save a couple bucks by not running the weep when the low was supposed to be 32 and ended up freezing a $20 boom swivel. The really sad part the weep runs all day, all night, all winter, wasting water. I happenend to be outside cleaning up and some tight arse was washing his car with the weep. so Einstein me goes in to turn off the weep. I check the weather and the low for the night is 32, unfortunately the storm rolls in and its 28 at 5am but 16 at 10am, the rest of the story sucks.
Ideally you shouldn't need them, but it's good insurance against the damage it can cause to the pump. The parts alone to rebuild the pump I pictured cost about $250. The thermal reliefs from Cat work, but they just spray hot water everywhere. I've been scalded by one before.aca - if this is what happened, a thermal relief valve could help this situation.
