R/O help w/ media in SFR tank

Ok, back w/ more issues from my GinSan Water Lovers R/O, that we bought & installed. I'm getting media, in my SFR holding tank. I had the media replaced by a water company, but it has never eally worked quite right. W/in next day, it was only doing 300gpd, & it is rated for 600gpd. I haven't paid them, but they also haven't came to fix it either.
What's your advice?

Can you explain what the media particles look like? First thing is you shouldn't be getting any media in your SFR tank. It sounds like they didn't put RO Membranes (Filtering Material) in and used some other type of media. The RO membranes are composed of filtering membrane material that looks like it rolled up on a roll all in one piece in the shape of a cylinder. It should look something like this.

There shouldn't be any little beads or anything that looks like Granulated Carbon or GAC.

I have the tiny little black particles, getting in my SFR tank. I do have that DOW filmtec membrane installed.

That sounds like your carbon media from your carbon filter is getting in there some how and/or they did a sloppy install. depending on your system it should go: water supply>water softener>carbon filter>prefilter>membranes>then your holding tank. Do you have a prefilter? Your carbon shouldn't be getting passed your membranes because the membranes are so small they desalinate water.

Is carbon filter the Large Blue tank(looks similar to water softener tanks) Prefilter a small light blue canister, membranes inside a SS housing....?

Yes carbon is in a similar tank like your water softener filter tanks. Your prefilter is generally clear or blue it can be a foot to 30 inches long and inside you should find a cylindrical filter made of white fiber. They are white when they are brand new. And yes the membranes are either in stainless steel or PVC housing. In your case they are stainless

Something has to be really wrong for the charcoal to get into the holding tank. There should be a prefilter between the charcoal filter and the first solenoid on the RO unit, certainly one before the membranes. If there is one, odds are that what you're seeing isn't charcoal but bits of your pump's impellers. The Water Lover's system circulates RO water through the membrane for a flush, and that's really about the only way anything but filtered water could get in the tank.

My guess is the carbon tank is the issue. Is it plumbed backwards? There is an "in" and an "out" to the carbon tank. Either it is plumbed backwards or they didn't pack it properly, that is to say with sufficient gravel bedding to cover the diffuser prior to the carbon.

There is no way carbon from that tank can make it through the RO system.

Carbon should be caught by the pre-filter or passed out the discharge on the membrane. Either something is extremely screwed up in a way that's not possible or it is the ro transfer pump impeller. Little black bits are the abs impeller.?
