Hello!
I have a LW4000 trough made from treated lumber. 17 years old and needs to be replaced.

What materials do you recommend for trough reconstruction. I was going to rebuild it with treated lumber and cap the top with pvc and vinyl trim for water tightness.

Any advice??

Why not go to a heating air conditioning shop that makes their own ductwork and have them make an insulated 3 sided duct the size you want. Then have them make a top insulated panel and you can hinge it or just zap screw it on. They would probably make it in 8-10 length sections that you screw together. Or use preformed fiberglass ducts and cut a top piece removable.
