The May, 2014 Professional Carwashing and Detailing magazine had the most educational and real world article about window style, computer based vending machines at a carwash that I have seen for many years. The writer did a great job of laying out the basics of vending machine operations without using any vending machine brand names. These new computer-based vending machines can be installed in or near the vacuum islands for high visibility and convenience for the customer and still have the HIGH SECURITY and weatherproof features that are necessary for a successful vending center. These high tech machines can accept bills, coins, tokens, and use wireless credit card systems to sell not only car wash products, but packs of token notes and/or tokens, VIP cards, Gift cards, iPhone chargers, etc and almost anything that will fit into the columns.
Another plus is that not usually considered at the time of purchase is that as the vending machines get older (10-12years) they can be upgraded to the latest technology used in the control boards and now can be upgraded to LED lighting which makes the products look so much brighter, is more efficient, and low in energy use. This upgrade can be done for about $750 and will extend the life of your vendor for another 10 years plus.
