Looking to you guys for some knowledge. We have a terrible reclaim odor. Ozone is working. When I disconnect the line to the mazzei injector, I have what seems plenty of ozone and also have suction into the system leading to the tanks. I don't think the line is blocked or I wouldn't have the suction.

Have contacted the manufacturer and they are also stumped.

Have put bleach into all of the filtering tanks, the high pressure tanks, and even into the pit the night before. This kept odor out temporarily, but returned after about 175 cars in 3 1/2 hours.

Have tried chlorine tablets.

I am open to any suggestions!

Could it just be the super hot weather?

I'll even take a phone call at 614-323-2710 if your solution is too lengthy for a post here!

Signed,

Hello stumped. How do you know the unit is making good ozone? You can't normally tell without a good tester, and you don't find those at Radio Shack. I suspect the ozone level is just low. Did the manufacturer test it?

If your oxygen concentrator is out, the unit will still make Ozone however it will be about 1/4th it's output vs oxygen working. If you have the proper amount of ozone, and it is working properly, you should have no odor problem.

The manufacturer should have you return the unit for testing. Problem is, most reclaim system manufacturers don't have the ability to test the unit as they outsource their ozone systems.

I could test the unit for you but am unable to rework or warranty units that aren't ours.

If you are washing 175 cars in 3.5 hours and the odor returns, it sound more like its being caused by the chemicals you are using more so than a lack of ozone. I would assume you are using acid based pre-soak since I have experienced this with other operatiors also using acid based solutions. We employ only an alkaline pre-soak and the only time we ever have this problem is first thing in the morning. It disappears after about 10 minutes of running the high pressure and undercariage bath before we open. We also add 1 gallon of bleach into the pits each night when the weather get super hot. If the water is being re-circulated as you wash cars, odor should not be a problem.

Does the pit water recirculate? Keeping it moving and oxygenated seems to work the best. If you have a return line going back into the first tank, simply let it flow above the ground onto the floor and into the first tank. As stated before chemicals could also be a contributing factor. Ryko actually makes special chemical just for reclaim.
