Replacement pumps

General Pump is cheaper and works as well, but they're higher maintenance. More than likely whatever problem you're having with the Cat pumps will be worse with General.

Why are you trying to get away from Cat?

The manifolds are more prone to wash-out; the seals last about half as long; they're much more prone to plunger seal issues that allow water into the oil; they're much more prone to oil leaks.

Before I found out about having Cat manifolds repaired, I replaced one 5CP with a General CW2040. Almost immediately it developed an oil leak from the piston oil seals. I fixed that; about three months later one of the low-pressure water seals started to leak. About a week after I replaced the seals, it started leaking oil from the crankshaft seal on the side with the pulley. It's four years old and the manifold is washed out, and there's no permanent fix for that like the Cat has. On top of all that, they used to be about half the cost of a 5CP, now they're only about 25% cheaper.

I agree with Mike and Dewey. I replaced my Cat pumps with Arimitsu 313s 's. Have had no problems (other than what I caused myself) since installing them six years ago. They are MUCH quieter.

Greg from Arimitsu will bend over backwards to resolve any issues. In my case, I was new. Unknown to me, my weep miser had lost it's program and was not cycling long enough. I couldn't figure out why I kept blowing valves. Greg made a trip to my car wash, identified the problem and also noticed that the lines to the pressure regulator were not large enough which likely contributed to overheating the valves when the bays froze.

Hypro 2430B

I have six of these at the moment and have used them for years. I stamp the date right into the head when it goes into service. My oldest in service is stamped Oct of 2001. I only spin them about 3/4 of max rating and am religous about oil. Check the color/level and change regularly. Truck bay has a 2431B and it works well too. I have an arimitsu 511 (my second...they replace first as it leaked oil from day one. This one leaks too but it hasn't gotten any worse). The Hypros are much easier on the ears than the Cat and the Arimitsu is almost identical in sound levels...I could possilby tell if one is louder than the other...both very quiet.
