I'm in the beginning stage of swapping out my metal-hallide wall packs with 4' vapor tight LED fixtures. About 3 years ago, I gutted the metal hallide fixtures and installed a mogul base spiral CFL in each fixture. This paid for itself in no time and the utilities dropped considerably. Now, I would like to get rid of the wall-pack fixture as they are shot and install the vapor tights. I'm planning on putting 2 4' fixtures per bay in the corners. I need suggestions on the lamps. I would like to stay around 40 watts/fixture. Would some of you offer some suggestions on fixtures, particularly whether you prefer a fixture with LED bulbs (2 or 3?) or LED circuit board? What colors/lumens did some of you use?

I have bought many of the 5 ft. LED fixtures for self serv bays and tunnel. They have been great.
They stopped making the 5 ft. and now make eithe 4 ft. or 8 ft. LED fixtures.
I just ordered one 8 ft. fixture to try out at the entrance of my tunnel.
Instead of 2 fixtures on both sides I’m hoping one 8 ft. will work better.

I believe I paid about $70 for these fixtures with ss mounting brackets and led bulbs. I have about 50 in service at 2 locations and have been nothing but happy over the last 6 years. Its been a couple years since I bought them so maybe a few dollars more, but I have yet to find anywhere with better prices.

Copy and pasted from other thread you started on the same subject:

The 3 bulb fixtures I got from Conservationmart.com are LED ready. I have purchased the 4' tube bulbs (Daylight or 5000K-6000K) from various places for about $4-5 a tube. That's only about $50 per fixture with bulbs. I put up the same fixture 7 years ago over my changer. Not a single bulb failure so far. So I guess it all depends on what your electrical skills are as to the direction you go. I like the ability to be able to change bulbs if they go out...I may not live that long though! LED's have a pretty long life expectancy... There is some wiring you'll have to do if you go the route I did. Also be aware, some bulbs are positive on one end (Both pins), neutral on the other end (both pins). Some bulbs have both positive and neutral on one end (one pin is positive, the other pin is neutral). The other end is does not get wired at all. So the tombstones have to be wired correctly depending on the bulbs you get or you could possibly let the magic smoke out.

I buy the bulbs that are positive one end, neutral on the other end. Most of the documents on the sales ads tell you how the bulbs are configured for wiring.
