Hello, wondering if anybody has added on a dollar bill validator to their self serve coin boxes. I've browsed the threads here and haven't really found what I was looking for. We have some smaller size coin boxes in the bays (not sure the make) and can't afford new boxes so we were wondering if anybody has added them to the side in another box or something. We have browsed our catalogs and can't find a box for a reasonable price. Anybody have any ideas? Anybody replace a add-on box with a new complete unit and want to get rid of the add-ons? Thanks in advance.

I used Etowah Valley add on boxes with acceptors. Now listed on the Website at $689.95. The acceptor is about $295.00 without the box, so the Box is an extra $400.00. The add on box makes it easier to notice the acceptor has now been added.

Initialy bought 4. Within a month I was convinced I needed to buy the other 4..

We’ve been slowly removing the bill validators from our equipment or I should say the thieves have been doing it for us. By putting bill validators in the bays or on the vacuums you might as well put a target on the equipment because thieves well target it in no time and it will be destroyed. After I saw the video of them popping open a con box it was decided that we would slowly phase them out. The best bang for the buck is the inbay credit card readers

I have in bay bill acceptors and in bay credit card acceptors. The inbay credit card acceptors do not get much use, but the bill acceptors are used constantly.

Probably a demographic thing. HAve had a couple bill acceptors attacked. But so far knock on wood not so bad.

blue & white collar theft --- bill-dollar coin-credit card

Randy, Indiana, Earl & others,

My Etowah Valley Coinco Vantage bill acceptor add on boxes are so recent they still are under warranty. Partially, because quarters are such a nuisance & dollar coins are still not available as much as they should be ... the bill acceptors get disproportionately more usage than coins. I like the redundancy of both coins & bills ... in case one or the other goes down. It seems like credit card acceptance could add another redundancy. My new GinSan-Dixmor Led7s distribution boards include credit card acceptance ... but I am not sure how much more would be still be involved to offer that feature besides just an external mounted card swipe.

Hopefully, we still live in an area where the moral charactor of people has not deteriorated quite to the extent that Randy describes. We are busy enough to make it less unlikely that the kind of activity Randy states ... will be prevalent. Also the fact we can secure everything after 10 PM with our overhead doors with alarm etc helps.

We are more worried about vandalism than theft. Dang it ... those ultra light & so "easy to carry" bills are soooo much more tempting to steal than dollar coins!!!:)

There is hope though ... if comments by one of my laundromat friends who lives in New York City ... holds true. He said before a change of Leadership in the year 2000 or so within their city .... crime was much worse.

I hope enough support can be made so one dollar bills are still available through limited special order similar to 2 dollar bills when the dollar coin injustice is finally straightened out.

As far as putting all our Easter Eggs in the "credit card" basket .... I am more afraid of "white collar crime" & some of that potential than I am of break ins that can be corrected (vigilante style) with "seconds to smart phone alarm" technology.

Happy Easter everyone!
