Road side back lighting options

I have some two sided 4'X8' backlit signs on tall steel poles. They are powered by 4 - 8' ho fluorescent lamps/ballast. Is there a better way to light these signs...LED, etc.?

you can put change them to 8' led liner lights or install a RGB led wall washer bar that can change color , I have done this and give the sign an attractive view especially at night people are attracted to it

There are some 8-foot LED tubes on 1000bulbs.com, but you might make sure before spending $300 on a case that they light 360° and not just on one side.
