Does anyone have experience, good or bad, as a section 8 property landlord (this is MA)?

TIA

We have a property in Central Texas that we are renting to under section 8. People either love the program or hate it. It has been decent so far for us, but we just started this lease a few months ago, so my experience is still really green in the area.

I dislike the program, getting in bed with the government for a guaranteed source of income means you give up control over your property and whose in it.Never again!

section 8

live in florida. have 3 section 8 properties in my rental pool. guaranteed income every month. government sets going rate for the area-you can take it or leave it. usually slightly lower than another regular tenant may pay. you can still choose your tenant and you can evict them if terms of lease not adhered too. inspections of houses by officials easy and safety focused. never had any problems. hope this helps

Swampdonkey & others,

I am of that mindset too for the most part ... there are so many unintended consequences when the government tries too much to create development. The best development tends to occur just by the fact that people need a specific service or property & are naturally willing to exchange what they often have too much of that someone else needs ... for something they themselves need.

Our Founding Fathers did have exceptions ... in our U.S. Constitution for the role that they should actually be involved in ... such as properly adjusted coin & currency!
