I've been looking on Amazon to find a security system to install. I feel like I'm going to go with a 16 camera system, wireless, with dvr. Need it to be accessible on my phone. What has worked best for you all?

Don't waste your time with wireless.

I'd consider either a Swann or Q-See from Costco

There's no good reason to run wireless cameras since you still have to run power to the cameras.

There are a bunch of options with the new systems that you'll need to consider in making your choice, for example what you want to see at what detail, how long you'll need to keep the recorded data, whether or not you'll need one or more remotely controlled pan/tilt/zoom camera, using it as an alarm system or tying it into one, etc.

I've got several 16 camera 1080p systems from Lorex. They've all been installed within the last 6 months but very happy so far, and I can monitor the washes from my iphone.

There were probably about 10-15 of us on here that all purchased a 1080p 16 dome camera Lorex system a few months ago. They had a great deal going on them for around $900, I am very happy with the picture quality, I can get tags going through all my bays and entering and exiting my automatic now. Do yourself a favor and buy a spool(1000) or two of siamese cable $100 per spool, get a power supply cabinet $40 and buy a bunch of cable ends, I used the twist ons and ran 3" drain pipe through all my bays and into the building. I mounted the domes on T's in center of each bay. Clean install, easy pulls for the cables and easy for maintenance. I have another 16 camera 720 that covers the property perimeters that I watch. If I see something and need closer info I go to a bay and pull video.

The Lorex systems were on Black Friday sale. A 16 camera HD system that come with 14 cameras and a 2 GIG hard drive for $862 if I remember right. They just sent me a 48 hour sale but it was almost double what I paid. I bought a couple of 8 camera SWANN HD systems from Sams for $350 on Black Friday.

Glad everyone's been happy with their lorex systems!

I have been as well. This is the model I got, the best blend of features and price for 16 cams.. 720p is sufficient for plates and records in 720 HD on all channels, can reduce the recording quality if you wish.

There are better systems If you can catch a sale they go up to 25% off.

dude, that's impossible for me to say. Go to their website, & see what suits you best. I got the most HD 1080p cameras, I could afford. But, it was only 6 cameras. However, that is enough for a 4 bay setup

This last weekend at Costco I saw a Lorex 16 channel/12 camera 1080p system with 2TB of storage for $700. Costco item # is 154132. Not as good of a deal as when we all bought a few months ago but still a good deal.
