I have property behind my wash that I feel would be well suited for self storage buildings. Who, what, where do I go to get info on getting started in this business?

I'd start by checking zoning and codes. I was going to do the same thing, but there were too many restrictions that would keep it from being profitable.

We own several facilities, and if you want some general information there is the self storage association (SSA), and there is a publication called "inside self storage" and off course several trade shows. Different from car washing, self storage has a low entry barrier, and often there is excessive competition beating themselves up. It is difficult to justify a free standing facility that is not at least 40,000 sq. ft. or more. most new facilities are closer to 100,000 sq ft. Good luck
