I have a question regarding Sensortrons... how long do they live?

I have done a quick search, and tried all the options listed: replace, clean..

We seem to be going through them very quickly, that don't seem normal.

They appear to work fine for a day or two, then go belly up - rejecting coins or double counting them.
On the units that reject the coins, it appears the kicker foot don't get out of the way quick enough.

We've tried even brand new out of the box units, they only last a couple days then quit accepting coins.

Tried changing the sensitivity setting, tried changing the 'test coin', tried the cleaning instructions ( yes, even on the brand new ones.. )

We are to the point of wanting to go back to mechanical coin mechs, as we can't make any money if we can't take any money..

Any other ideas?

I have switched most units to slugbusterIII. Easy to program and great support

I have had to replace 2 out of 7 in ~10 years. I don't think that is terrible considering the price. I have had to clean one or two of them where the "kicker foot" got sticky.

I think you must have something else going on. Is it possible you have a wiring issue? Weak ground or wrong voltage?

Sensortrons are generally very reliable and work for many years. It sounds like you have a voltage issue.

My bays have sensortrons. Like others, mine have been in service for ~10~ years. No problems. Maybe because I have a spare on the shelf?!

Are yours failing in every bay? Do you have seperate bay transformers? Have you checked voltage like others have already suggested?
