Sensortron Question

SS bays in new/old wash all have Sensortrons and they all see to not detect a quarter from time to time, causing the customer to call and me to tell him to drop another quarter. My question is, does the Selectivity dial have anythin to do with this?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but all the selectivity dial does is adjust the sensitivity of the coins being accepted. If the sensortron is accepting the quarter but not sending a pulse to the timer, I would clean the sensor at the bottom of the acceptor where the quarter comes out. Q-tip dipped in alcohol has worked for me.

Fatboy769 is right, the selectivity dial won't affect it taking a coin without giving a pulse credit unless the reject gate is defective. Turn the power off to the bay and run a few dozen coins through it, and if none of them get past the gate to the vault, the gate is fine and the acceptor is dirty or failing.

Sensortrons have a sensor below the gate which is activated briefly by the electronics detecting a valid coin. Most others can't and won't send a coin pulse after the coin has passed the gate, and falsely accepting coins without credit doesn't happen (Except for Slugbuter II's, which will take a $1 coin and give a credit for a quarter).
