Service after the Sale: ShurVend Changes Policy

Our policy at ShurVend has always been to provide customer service after the sale to make sure the vendor works correctly and will provide increased income to the wash operator. Competitors in the vendor business do not always do that. We occasionally have operators call us with a vendor problem telling us it is our machine. We ask for a serial number so we can check our records; sometimes we find that their vendor is not ours. We tell them they should go back to their distributor or supplier. They usually say they have already done that and can not get service from them.

ShurVend has decided to make a policy change and now will provide service for machines that are not purchased from us or our distributors. We will ask for a serial number from the caller to make sure it is our vendor. If the serial number matches our data bank, we will service you in any way we can. If the serial number does not match our data bank, we will ask for a credit card number and charge a service fee of $45 before we continue any trouble shooting of your problem or selling parts to you. Of course you could just tell us up front the vendor is not a ShurVend and we can proceed from there.

We trust our knowledge, experience, and time is valuable to those who didn’t buy from us.

SeattleGuy,

We have turned down a number of people calling for help with their vendor after we asked for serial numbers. Of course they do not like it!! But this attitude really came home just recently at the Northeast show. An operator stopped by our both and started talking to me. I remembered his name because I had sent him a vendor quote a year ago or so. In the course of the chat he admitted he had bought my competitor's vendor to save a few dollars. Then he had the balls to say that if he had any trouble with the vendor he would call us to help him and we could make a profit on the parts! He knew he wasn't going to get any service from my competitor when he bought the vendor.

Well, now I will make some money right up front and then we'll see about the profit on the parts.

Uncle Sam :)
