I just got a big shipping charge surprise and need to vent.
I ordered some product from KR about $600 and i opened up my invoice today and there is a $190 shipping charge. I'm in Canada and its normally around $60 they already shipped it and I'm kinda ****ed that they did not call to make sure an amount like that would be OK. I could have gone local but was trying too save some money so much for that. Is it just me or would you expect a call to OK it. I'm sure its happened to us all just kinda ****ed about this one. Thanks Greig

Yeah, that's kinda f'ed up dude. I really hate how they never tell you how much shipping is going to be until they ship the package and you get an email. I'm with you. Call them and see if they can credit you for some of it. It doesn't hurt to try. Escalate it if you have to.
Good luck.

To ship something anymore, with anyone it's at minimum $10-$15 a box, so probably in line. What can you do? Talk to them about shipping. If you get a pallet of soap you can piggyback alot of product. Every 3-4 months they have a free shipping offer. Buy alot at that time, when they have free shipping. I have also bought enough at one time to fill a pallet, and get reduced rates .

Kleen-Rite is a great supplier but when you have a problem their customer service rep is a real b##tch. She doesn't have the first clue about making things right and argues with you. I am not sure how she gets away with it when the rest of the company seems to run pretty well. Over the past 7 years I have only had a few return type problems and she had a real way about herself... everytime. Now sometimes I will just "take it on the chin" when I have a problem because they normally are so good. I think it might be a nepotism type of thing.

A lot of companies that size get greatly reduced shipping rates with FedEx, UPS, etc due in part to the volume of packages they ship. I would just call them and explain how unhappy and shocked you were with the shipping charges. Most companies are willing to give you a credit towards your next purchase or a refund of some kind. If it doesn’t work with the first customer service representative you are talking with, try talking to their supervisor.

Shipping has gotten real expensive in the past few years so one must be careful. I don't casually pick up the phone and order a couple of items anymore. I make planned larger purchases of supplies and try to keep enough on hand to keep me running.

I had gotten into the habit of using a closer vendor (car wash superstore) regularly but the free shipping offer KR provides helps sweeten the deal tremendously and makes it worth the extra couple of days to get the product. Because of this deal they have once again become my "go to" vendor. I do not know if they extend the deal to Canada, but maybe they have an alternate deal that would give you 50% off your shipping or something if you ask. My bet would be they have another free ship deal in January or February.

One of the things I try to remember to do is cancel any backorders for non-essentials. I have had a single box of fragrance trees from one vendor placed on backorder just to receive them a few days later, along with an additional $15 shipping charges.

For the record, I've had pretty good luck with KR's customer service.
