Earlier this year I posted about the fact that we had developed a LED lighting system for our vendors. It is a significant improvement over the old fluorescent lights that were used for years. We have been continuing to experiment with new LED lighting inside the vendor to give the products a brighter look. When the vendor is installed outside in the vacuum area of a wash, it is subject to sunlight shining through the window partially "blinding" the customer. We have tried many different ideas to overcome this sunlight problem, but the only thing that helps is adding more and brighter light to the inside of the machine. We can now install LED light modules on both sides and across the top of the window. There are new LED products coming to the market place everyday and we are continuing to study how to use them to overcome the sunlight problem.
I have had occasion to travel to some of my long time customer’s wash sites to see how the older vendors are holding up under their vandalism concerns and weather conditions. Many of these vendors are 12-14 years old so they show wear and tear, but they still look pretty good after all these years. The only thing that becomes obvious to me is the “tired” look of the products given by these old fluorescent lights. So I would encourage all of my customers with these older vendors to upgrade to the new LED light kits that we offer. The kit comes with the new LED lights, a power supply to run them, and instructions (with some pictures) on how to install them in your vendor. You will be amazed at how much brighter the products look in the vendor and your customers will appreciate it also.
