We got a new and fancy electric range, and to my horror, the manual says not to use cast iron skillets. I'm devestated. Well maybe not devestated, but disappointed. I've had some of these for close to 40 years. You can not hurt them. You can even use them for target practice, with BB guns anyway, and still not hurt them. Meanwhile my wife has gone through maybe six or seven sets of cookwear. You know the kind with a super lifetime coating. Only the lifetime is measured in dog years. The manual says my cast iron will scratch the surface. I was wondering if I can have them mechanically polished to a super smooth finish. Someone at a brake shop should be able to do it.
