I have an older GinSan Water Lovers SFR. It was over hauled last fall and has been running great. It is about the six month mark, so I swapped out my 5 micron filter. My TDS reading went from 20 to 70! Any thoughts? Thanks!

Changing the prefilter should not have done anything to make the TDS change. Did you check to make sure your water is still soft?

I will check that today. My regular rinse is at about 160ppm. My spot free about 66ppm now. I just thought it was weird that it spiked after my filter replacement.

Is there any truth in "brass fittings" contaminating the spot free tank? A few weeks ago we replace the the plastic barbed fitting that connects the make water pump with the tank. There seems to be brass everywhere on this system. I figure id ask.

It won't contaminate it in the short time it's in contact with the brass, but the RO water will eventually erode brass fittings. I have more issues with presoak eating brass than with RO doing it.

How long ago was the previous reading you mentioned?

I would open the flushing valve whenever repressurizing the system to avoid water hammer that could damage a membrane.

Turn out my reject valve was stuck. I was getting a bit of the reject in my tank. Just twisted the valve, readjusted to the proper ratio and we are back to 12ppm.
