I thought I would share what one of my fellow laundry owners stated on a laundry forum ... since it may or may not be pertinent to some of the car wash operators. Maybe it just applies to the pay by month customers ... not sure.

Here is what he wrote:

"Part of any PCI compliance best practices with your merchant account requires that you do not store the credit card numbers and you shouldn't even store it within your software either. The way to save credit card information in a legal and compliant way is to have your software transfer the credit card information to a PCI compliant payment gateway, such as authorize.net. These are global companies whose job it is to store credit card information and keep it safe."

The following part of this thread (somewhat separate topic) relates to potential chargeback problems being swept under the rug so to speak.

Another very credible operator seems to be having incidents of a rogue processor who is allowing a large number of very costly chargebacks leaving him somewhat powerless. I would have put in quotes his relevant posts but the very credible operator's thread was "unfairly removed IMHO" by that specific forum moderator. Not sure if a dangerous social engineering mindset is involved ... I don't want to falsely accuse.
