Super Swivel

The 1" inline double bearing Super Swivel (brand name) as seen in the Kleen Rite catalog has 2 grease zerks. How do you know how much grease to give it? Too much and you blow thru the seals, too little and it wears out prematurely. Anyone using these swivels that can share their experience?

I have used both the kind with zerks and the non-serviceable kind, I have found that the non-serviceable kind last much longer, instead of zerks they just have a screw inplace where zerks would be added.

My experience with the Super Swivels has been that they are unable to accept any grease after any short period time in use. In my maintenance, I normally don't bother with it.

I remove one grease fitting and install a modified fitting so grease passes thru the swivel bearings. Add grease gently and spin the swivel during. If you dont remove one grease fitting, chances are you will hydraulic past the seals. If you dont add a modfied fitting you will push the ball bearings out with the grease. Swivels last twice as long for me by doing this.
