I wonder what it will be like in summer? At least they picked a decent location this time. Their other location between you and us is rarely busy.

I always thought about when building a new SS wash to get rid of the heated floors, weep, methanol and all that BS. Build like a warehouse building with stalls for vacuums, bays, and a few IBA's. You would have to have security probably 24/7 to keep homeless out is probably the only bad thing about it. Im sure the cost would be greater but in cold climate states I believe it would be worth it.

There is a chain called Valet Auto Wash that has indoor vacs. They are an express exterior. No extra security needed - they are open set hours every day, have attendants and close at night, so keeping loiterers etc. out is not an issue. I’d never want something like that open 24/7.
They actually use closed “Toys R Us” stores and convert them. No need to build the building.

I don't really think it would be a net cost savings because instead of heating the floors to keep them above freezing you'd have to heat the whole warehouse building to keep it above freezing. The doors would be opening and closing all day, so you'd quickly lose any stored heat. You would have people rinsing off big icebergs which would be on the floors adding to the cold factor.
