Tip Replacement Advice

It's time for me to do the annual replacement of the tips on my automatics. In the past I have replaced all of the tips. I'm curious if it is a waste of money to replace the low pressure tips including pre-soak and triple foam? I'm assuming that this isn't critical to cleaning but I also think that I might save a bit on chemicals if they aren't as worn out. It gets a bit expensive when you have 15 triplefoam tips on each wash. Any thoughts.

If you could come up with a method to test them, even something as simple as running water through an old one and a new one to compare the flow to see if it has changed, you would know if you even need to replace them. I use the pressure gauge on our auto (A Vector, which uses the same tips for low- and high-pressure) to see if flow has changed. I just noticed a few days ago that it had dropped below 1200 PSI, and I had to bump the pump speed up 2%, so I know they're due to be replaced. It took three years for them to get to that point.

Has anyone tried the "ceramic" tips? I've seen them advertised to last 10 times longer. The last time I checked, they only came in 1/4"....and my automatic uses 1/8".

Older Mark VIIs used the 1/8" ceramic type so someone must make them. I have the newer machines now and don't remember buying those other nozzles anywhere but from my distributor so they could be proprietary.

One company advertises ceramic nozzles in one of the trade magazines.

Vague, but a place to start.

I hope the ceramic tips are 10x's better.
It is funny that a pump company would spend so much money advertising such a low margin item and not their pumps. I wonder what this says?

The ceramic nozzles are excellent. Yes, they only come in 1/4 however you can get adaptors for the 1/8 to 1/4 npt. It's part number MF1814B. from Hypro. Also, their sudden impact turbo nozzles are incredible. We have been using these 2 products since June of last year. You could clearly see, hear and feel the results.
