While I don't run one, I've been involved with several from the equipment end. Your first choice is friction or touchless. That really depends on your market. For a city that needed to wash their garbadge trucks, touchless was an easy choice. If you're thinking of a wash on a busy highway it gets complicated. Friction will be cheaper and easier to run, but won't do tankers, car haulers, etc. Touchless will do anything that rolls in. Cost of equipment isn't that much more than car washing, at least on the high end machines, just bigger. You also can do away with rollovers alltogether. There is a successful chain of truck washes Called "Blue Beacon" that does very well, and does it mostly by hand. I would try to visit as many truck wash operations as possable before making a decision. Of course if you are doing this somewhere in Florida, please give me a shot at it.
