Turbo Wash 8 and 16 channel DVR Package?

A major car wash supplier has a Turbo Wash, 8 CHANNEL DVR PACKAGE and a 16 CHANNEL DVR PACKAGE. Does anyone have any advice or experience with these packages? We have had some issues with our vacs & in the bays and want to install a good system and get it up and running.

We've talked about it for a while, now that we've had damage it's a priority.

We have a 2/1 with a vac island with 4, in the back. The front of our wash is a frontage street. I've looked at several camera systems, I'm concerned most outdoor cameras wouldn't stand up to the car wash environment.

I currently have three 16 channel systems and three 32 channel systems from them. The cameras have held up well in the wash environment. The systems are not cheap when you start to add up all of the cameras and wiring. The system does a fine job. There are other systems out there that may fit your needs at a lower cost. You have to do some digging. Costco has different inexpensive systems. Then there are other car wash specific camera systems from different companies. One reason I like the Turbo DVR system is that it is PC based. Most other systems have a "one piece" DVR. When the DVR breaks, you usually have to buy a new one at a cost. The PC based system can be fixed through software updates and can also in some cases be expanded for more capabilities.

Camera dvr systems

I see that has Costco 8 camera, 8-channel H.264 DVR. It's 90% cheaper than a Turbo Wash 8 channel DVR.

Are these systems a case of "you get what you pay for" or is it like the Texas Instruments calculators at first they were thousands and then in a few years they were mass produced and the price dropped to $35.?

FWIW I have 6 systems purchased thru Costco.

Really like them but they are not perfect.

The first 4 had the ability to drop in a DVD Burner and second hard drive. Really easy to do and liked being able to burn a DVD right there if there was an issue. Newer ones only allow backup thru a USB to a flash drive or portable hard drive.

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but if I want to copy video from more than one camera I need to do each one seperately.

Have had some tunnel cameras get water damage after a year or so. Had one DVR lock up if trying to re set the time, but I am working on a correction now Q See e-mailed me about.

The systems come with cameras that do not do Audio although the DVR will do Audio on up to 4 cameras so I had to buy that camera seperately.

If Camera is pointed from inside toward a window with sun shining in the picture washes out.

Bear in mind, that if you record audio, state and federal law requires that you notify them. Just add Video & Sound being recorded to your signage.

I have one turbo dvr system and it has worked fine with no problems for over 3 years. When buying a camara system I have tried the costco and sams club units in the past. They do not compare to quality of picture you can get with a professional type of system like the turbo dvr. Get the highest resolution camaras you can otherwise all you will get to do is watch the crimes in fuzzy resolution with nothing the police can use to identify anyone.

Just to add a note about the Turbo DVR system.

I caught 2 different attempted robberies at two different locations with this system. I actually got restitution from both because of the cameras.

I also was able to witness numerous "happenings" around my washes including a late night one car accident. I ultimately had to copy the incident and give it to the police for compensation for the damage to my vacs and buildings from the vehicles insurance company. They claimed it wasn't their customers vehicle........

Like I said in the previous post, this system is not cheap, and is not the only one out there. There are many others just as good and many no so good. Choose carefully.... not all systems are created equal

FWIW I think adding the video capability is the best money that I have spent for a long time. I reccomend spending a few extra bucks and getting a really nice system. This from I guy who is so tight that when I walk my a$$ makes a noise only dogs can hear (according to my wife!).
