Some forum members may have noticed that I have not blogged in my user’s group for about 10 months. As I read posts during the early months of 2010, with the economy being what it was, the pessimism was pervasive. There seemed to be so much “doom and gloom” on the forum, I got “burned out” and quit reading it except occasionally. When things are not going well I get this voice in my head that says “ATTACK”!!!; accept the “new” reality and find a way to redesign the ShurVend products to meet that new reality in the business even though it may be small. We used a new, smaller 30-selection vendor developed by AMS as the basis for developing the lower priced ShurVend medium security line of vendors for those operators who don’t need the more expensive “Ghetto Box” high security systems.
That approach was vindicated at the Car Care World Expo in May when we showed our new medium security product line for the first time. We were able to offer a vending solution for operators that only needed a medium security system. ShurVend was also approached by a large C-Store operation during the CCWE show with some special design requests which forced us to think “outside the box” to develop a new vending system if we wanted their business. The concept and the building of the “White Lightnin’ vending system was the result of that request. It was recently announced on this forum and shown for the first time at the Northeast show last month. We have two of these new “White Lightnin’ style vendors installed in the real world and we will see how they work out.
In Plato’s Symposium the World of Becoming is the physical world we perceive through our senses. This world is always in movement, always changing. Our challenge is to accept or be a change instrument on a day by day basis. We at ShurVend will always try to be optimistic and anticipate the changes necessary to service our customers in the best possible way.
