Our new VendPro-iG4 was introduced at the Car Wash Show in 2012 and was received very well by operators. We sold and/or installed them at wash sites to see what needed to be redesigned for better security of the vendor on the car wash site. Vandals/thieves continue to attack the money handling systems and the window of the vendor. At the request of a customer we added vertical bars over the window with a 6-inch spacing. So far it has worked but the vendor looks as if it was in “jail”.

In another VendPro-iG4 that was placed in a wall to replace a Wurlitzer vendor, the vandals went after the coin slot and the window in the machine. We retrofit horizontal bars on a 6-inch spacing on this iG4 and reinforced the coin slot and the bill slot to make it harder to do damage. Again this seemed to work in securing the vendor better. The customer also added video cameras to deter the vandals, but, in this day of “hoodies”, I don’t think one could get a good shot at recognizing any face under a “hoodie”. The real solution is to make the vendor as secure as possible to intimidate and/or discourage any “hoodie” that may have bad behavior in mind.

We have spent the past six months redesigning elements of the VendPro-iG4 to make it more secure so it will stand on its own where ever it is installed; free standing near the vacuums, in-the-wall front-loaded or in-the-wall rear-loaded.
