Vac Island Canopies

I was thinking about ording some canopies for my vac islands. I was going through KR catalog and was wondering if anyone had opinions on fabric versus metal?

I want them to have lights and will probably have to cut out and rearrange the poles to fit my configurations. Any opinions?

I will try to post a picture of one of my islands.

BTW before anyone tells me I need paint - That is part of the plan.

I only know one thing about canopies , and that is-- red fades really easy. Sorry not much help- I always wanted to buy a canopy but was worried about big vehicles hitting them.

I was thinking of erecting a metal shed roof type thing over mine.

If you use pressure treated for the posts and steel for the roof, it'd hold up well. You can get the steel in many colors now.

I'm not a big fan of the fabric type like Coleman does, because you will have to re-skin them in a few years. The Dralco ones are awesome and will last forever, but cost a bit more. I'd go with the Dralco ones.

My Coleman Islands have gone 20+ years before needing recovering. I think the metal ones may or may not last longer depending on any number of factors. Just had to re skin my gas station canopy after about 30 years and having re painted it affter about 20 years.

Have and had some concrete Islands like yours. I never could keep them looking great. Always wanted to try a faux brick veneer. (The kind made from masonry.)
