Vac pricing

richard

SS,IBA,Tunnel,Detail
I am currently $1 for 4 minutes. Thinking of raising to $1.50 for 6 minutes. It's basically the same price, just more start up time. Most of my competition is the gas stations which are at .75 cents. Not sure about the time.

Has anybody tried this with positive results?

One problem I might have is I use $1 tokens. Many customers might complain about having to put 2 tokens because they have no quarters. I could change token value to .50 cents, but that would require retraining my customers.
You guys know how easy that is!!!

I'm totally refurbing my combo vacs and cleaning them up to look like new again...once I get that done...I'm going to $1.75 for 6 minutes. If they use them fine...if not then I don't have as much work to do. I only take quarters...

They're cheaper, but vacuum business is a necessary evil for us...double bay auto only.

I wish I didn't have vacs at all...just my icehouse and autos...a whole lot less cleanup than ss bays and vacs and very little or no trash.

We charge $1 for 3 minutes of vac time. We dispense $1 tokens also. We've found that the higher price up front drives off customers. They can't seem to understand that they are getting the same thing. All they see is the $1.50 sticker.

Lower the time and keep startup price the same.

I love my vacs.

Yeah, it's alot of cleanup, but it's a steady revenue stream and people still vac when it's raining!!!

I actually want more vacs.

We're also priced at $1.00 for 3 minutes. We switched from $1.00 for 4 minutes about 3 years ago. At 4 minutes, most customers ended up using two cycles. At 3 minutes they all end up using two cycles. What are the vacuums priced at in New England? I thought I saw in a magazine that they were upwards of $2.00 for 4 minutes....I like the way they think!

That's what I'm talking about! Earn some real $$$ for being a trashman! I mean seriously...it was $.50 to $.75 15 years ago! We all know what gasoline was then!

We are $2 for 4 minutes here in Toronto. Most of the competition is the same.
Our vacs do great as do our shompoo and fragarence machines.

We are at .75/4 min. I like the idea of just adjusting the time and leaving the startup the same. I will probably go .75/3min and change my bays to 1.50/3.5min instead of 4 min for each.

I switched to $1 for 3 minutes , down from 4 minutes, when the electric bill went up 115%. I agree with the previous post that a $2 for 6 minute start would scare a lot of people away. As was indicated, about 85% now double cycle, with probably 20% triple cycling.

What?s wrong with doing it tomorrow? The last time I raised my prices I never give it a second thought, I just did it and felt pretty darn good about. I know some operators who will agonize for months over raising their prices. Just do it!!
