A few months ago, I added the JE Adams "security kit" to my vacs. Until recently, that stopped all attempts to sift for coins in the dirt. But a few days ago, someone pried and mangled the latches, but they didn't defeat the upgrade security.
I was at the wash yesterday, doing a repair. Whoa- a trash dumper I have been chasing after, by coincidence, pulls into Bay 3. Busted! Funny thing, he is also a good customer, washing several times per week.
By the time I got over to Bay 3 he already had the bags of trash out and was about to start washing. Oh, what a great opportunity-- rousting a trash dumper while he and I were standing with a few feet of the bags of evidence! I had a good conversation with him, and got him to agree to stop bringing trash while preserving him as a repeat customer. He is the only offender I've ever engaged who was polite and respectful, and who didn't have the attitude of "What? It's JUST a bag of trash ...."
Sometimes, things just work out.
