I can't get my vac to come on. Replaced timer, but still nothing. Qrtrs trup switch, or I manually flip the switch, & nada. Can the switch itself go bad? Or do you think it's the country mech? We hard wired it, & it worked but wouldn't shut off

If it has a switch you can manually trip you need a meter to see if there is continuity when switch is tripped. You may need to disconnect from timer to get true reading. If you have continuity when tripped and you have good connection to the timer you likely have a timer issue.

Not sure how you connected direct, but you may or may not have a relay issue if you have a relay.

Get a volt/ohms meter. Did you replace the timer without manually jumping the coin terminals?

What does "we hard wired it" mean? Did you put the line and load together to bypass the timer? That tells you nothing except that the motors are good.
