I am getting ready to upgrade my dryers for my IBA. My old dryers were just motor starters so I had a slight time delay between each motor starting to reduce energy costs. My new dryers have VFD's. With VFD's do you guys still use a time delay between each motor starting or do you ramp all of them up at once? My thinking is with a long accel time you wouldn't need the staggered start.

Sparkey,

If they were mine, I would put one of my two clamp on ammeters to verify the amp draw during the ramp time & after the full frequency has been made. Depending on my specific extra "demand meter cost" i would make whatever practical time delay judgement based on those factors. I am not sure on how the performance of the dry process would be affected.
