Walters Float Valve

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there isn't supposed to be any type of relief hole in the body of the valve correct? I'm going to assume that mine has corroded to the point where its leaking...I ordered the float valve from KR, but it won't be here until next week. Any suggestions to get me through the next couple of days?

:eek::confused::eek:

There is a small hole in the valve body, but it should be after the diaphragm and it shouldn't leak through it.

For what it's worth, and since I use the same valve on the SS and the auto, I keep a new valve, a rebuild valve, a spare pilot valve and two diaphragms on hand.

Think NASA

FWIW

Spare patrs inventory is crucial to your carwash success. I learned this the loooong hard way.

Yes, I keep a spare valve for the IBA feed tank. Yes I also keep a spare rebuild kit too, just in case.

In a pinch, I would go to my local plumbing supply and ask them for a solution. They have haelped me in the past with check valves etc. The parts I got were not rated high enough psi, but they worked till I got the proper ones mail order.

I also spare part: HP hoses ready made for the touchfree, belts that drive my trolley and wash arm, motor brake for wash arm rotate, proxes, ultrasonic sensor, chemical injectors, treadle pads, validator for the cashier, etc.

As a rule, a critical part fails just before or during a bangin' Saturday.

Good luck!

Thanks guys. After working with it a bit more last night, it appeared as though things only went crazy and overfilled when there was a substantial demand put on the system with 5 bays running HP rinse.

There are better ways of filling a tank than using those pesky mechanical float valves. We give up on them years ago.

What might have happened, if the float rod is bent down too much, is when the tank got low enough the float fell under the pivot point and when the water rose up it was held wide open.
