I have been involved with Wash Card for many years now but recently opened a second facility and am "trying" to understand all of the charges. We accepted credit cards long before we were involved with Wash Card. I am currently being charged 0.07per transaction for sales (credit card), 0.07 per transaction for preauthoritzation (credit card), 0.07 per transaction (wash card), 0.07 per transaction for CASH TRANSACTIONS! And then there is the $600 support fee and of course the web hosting fee, which I actually understand. I then have my charges from my merchant account. I don't even know if I'm making money anymore. In addition, it seems we are always having trouble with the credit card readers. I love the wash cards and think it really helps increase business but I'm beginning to wonder about all of these charges. Does anyone else feel this way or is it just us.?

I don't think you are understanding your invoice. The 7 cents for sales are credit card transactions at the automatic. The 7 cents for preauth are for your self serve bays, and the 7 cents for cash transactions are the ones run through the POS system at your car wash. So you are not getting a double or triple charged for a card swipe. Still we are less than 3% fees, with everything considered. Well worth it to me for the continued success of the system.

A self-serve bay that counts up does a pre-authorization and a final transaction, which typically counts as two separate transaction fees.

My bays are count up and if they do two transactions then the figures don't work out for my automatic. We audit our invoice every month and self serve preauths are 7 cents and automatic charges.

You are probably right that I am not understanding my invoice, however it still does seem like a lot of fees and I've been trying to figure it out for years.

Thats frustrating. We use a system very similar to washcard called washremote. GREAT system, basically picture everything you can do with washcard, with the addition of a loyalty card system that can use the customers existing credit card instead of issuing a completely separate card. Support is top notch as well.

I'm not saying you won't still get the phone calls about pre auth charges, because you will :) But the system is great.

Have been using washcard for 4 years now. I do not have double fees for debit cards and does not count preauths as a sale which is what your service fees are based on.
And yep I do not like the charge for cash trans since they are getting the cents on the card swipe too.
I suggest to call washcard with the specific questions and have them answer them I have never had a problem with them unable to answer my questions.

About the creditcard readers, make sure the box is not getting an abundant amount of moisture in the box. I have plugged 3 of the 4 drain holes in the bottom of the box to keep water out. Plug the ones next to the wall for sure- a lot of splash up into the box. Be sure the heater is on.
The plug receptacle on the reader has been the most touchy part of the system. I have gone to radio shack and bought a spray cleaner for circuit boards and a protective spray to put on the green board and plug. Take a soft bristle tooth brush and with the cleaner carefully scrub the plug receiver and plug. I have even used some baking soda/water on the plug to get some corrosion off. Works most of the time. But get a few extra pig-tails for spares. After plugging the pig-tail into the reader, spray the protectant. Just ask the shack staff and they will be able to get the right stuff.

Keep in mind that when you use the sprays, all warranties are voided- this is why Washcard does not do it before shipping the unit out.
Once they spray stuff on the units the manufacturer will not honor warranties.

To make my CC and washcard statements balance I run my washcard statements from 2am the first day of the month to 2am the first day of next month. Statements balance at these times between the two companies.

Also, and check with WC, but if your sales are not able to meet a certain level , they have a reduced fee system. Hope this helps
