First time. Be gentle with me. Waxing a metal business sign. Applied wax very thick. Applied to entire sign before beginning to buff off. Spent almost 2 hours and got 1/5th buffed. I’m thinking I should remove somehow and start over. Sign is apx. 18’ long, 2’ wide, and 5’ tall.

How long was the wax on before you started buffing? We’re you in direct/ strong sunlight? If it is caked on that bad you might need some type of solvent to get it off. Maybe kerosene will do the trick. You’ll have to start from scratch again because there won’t be any wax left. Good luck.

You usually don't apply wax thick. There's no reason to since you're cleaning with the wax process as much as you're applying protection. See if more of the wax will remove the paste that won't come off, and work in small sections.
